Self cleansing at Chhat Puja and the Foot soaking technique

In 1972 while in Singapore Sir CP and Shri Mataji were invited to a diplomatic dinner hosted by The High Commissioner of India  Mr Prem Bhatia. As usual some diplomats sought Shri Mataji’s advise on their personal problems. She told them to do foot soaking first to rid themselves of negativities and She would then take them forward. Mr Prem Bhatia did not approve of this as in his experience and knowledge no previous spiritual system the world over advised as such. He wrote to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi that this was breach of protocol by an IAS officer and his wife.
Sir CP was telephonically called from Bombay to the office of the Prime Minister and reported to Mr PN Haksar secretary to the PM in Delhi.

There was urgency and the family was closeted together in Bombay. I was asked to personally speak with Shri Mataji as to why and from where she had got the idea of foot soaking.

She told me Beta tum log Nahi samjho ge ye kahan se aya hai Yeh Mujh pe Utara Hai’ suggesting that it has come to me directly from the Brahmaand as a REVELATION.

We then told her about the serious view held by Govt. about the breach of protocol. She told me that ‘sarkaari vyavastha isko kya samjhe gi’Revelations are divine and protocols man made. We should understand that and with that knowledge keep doing what is right and good for all people from whatever religion.

The Govt. will understand and realize if it is good for people they will accept. So don’t worry about protocol and me. It happened just as She had predicted. Shri PN Haksar a highly respected and noble person fully understood and deeply appreciated Shri Mataji’s work.
I told Papaji that there was a parallel to foot soaking in my state of Bihar performed during CHHAT PUJA. At that time not much was known about Chhat in Bombay or Delhi. Even today though so much has been written we do not know the deeper historical or phenomenological aspect of Chhat Puja. Entire families come to a ghat, lake or any body of water and perform the ritual themselves. There is no need for a priest. I have had the unique blessing of Shri Mataji on many occasions to discuss Chhat Puja and the central river Narayani- Gandak seen both as M/FM flowing from the Himalayas in Nepal onto  Bihar and bringing countless cosmic Blessings.

Shri Mataji would tell me about Ida Pingala Naadis and their unity in the central Sushumna and why Bihar was so much a land of saints. She first and foremost had great respect for Raja Janaka and Mata Sita who emerged from the Earth here in Bihar.

We in this sacred Earth have kept a TIMELESS  TREASURE OF CHHAT PUJA A TRADITION  forgotten elsewhere and hope SAHAJA YOGIS WILL CARRY IT FORWARD FOR THE GOOD OF ALL MANKIND.
